US calls for respecting Iraq’s sovereignty.

It turns out it makes sense:

The United States on Tuesday urged Iraq’s neighbors to respect Iraq’s sovereignty as Turkey deployed thousands of troops along its border with northern Iraq.

“We would call upon all of Iraq’s neighbors to respect Iraq’s sovereignty,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing.

Countries 5,000 miles away can do whatever they want to poor old Iraq, as long as they promise to leave nothing standing, McCormack went on to explain.

Most physicians think it will take a few years for avian flu to develop human-to-human transmission

In a new survey of physicians, a majority believe that avian flu will develop human-to-human transmission within four years. Only 14% think its likely to occur within one year. It would help to know how knowledgeable these physicians are on the topic, and on infectious disease generally.
