Some groups have started a campaign to get Condoleezza Rice fired. While I find this video extremely powerful and agree that the torturers must be punished. I feel odd about this campaign. First, Rice should not simply be fired but should be tried for the crime of torture, not simply fired. But so should many other top US officials including the Vice President and the President. Many other of these officials were directly present when torture was planned and micromanaged out of the White House. To single out Rice seems inappropriate. We have an entire government apparatus devoted to torture.
