Occupy Livestream staff arrested
January 4th, 2012
Word comes that the NYPD has arrested those in the GlobalRevolution headquarters responsible for providing live feeds of Occupy events. Thyis action is not that surprising. After the encampments were crushed in most major cities around the country, the powers that be will likely move to destroy the infrastructure that supported the movement to prevent future protests. As the reaction to the Occupy protests demonstrated, free speech by dissidents is only tolerated when it is ineffective.

Thanks for linking to this Stephen. There’s been very little coverage of this, and it goes into the category of: just when you thought things couldn’t get worse. You’ll also notice that there has been a spate of articles in the mainstream media about how there’s dissension amongst different groups who have been documenting OWS over the past few months. IMO, it’s the start of phase two to crush OWS by destroying and discrediting any self-created media outlets. It’s a very dangerous development, and I only hope that there is the techie and political knowledge out there to deal with this.
